| pull house southern vermont 2007 |
The house embraces local tradition revising the Barn prototype. A simple pitched roof “barn” has had one corner pulled and moved diagonally from its rectangular loci. This has folded the entry gable facade and created a strong diagonal long facade. These simple distortions create some interesting spaces and juxtapositions to the opposite side of the building, which appears quite ordinary. One can see in the building a vernacular “saltbox” form or an extended roof with changed pitch neither of which are true. |
